Blur an image's background with real AI on FreeToolsNets — runs entirely in your browser, no upload.

Current: 14px

AI Background Blur is a free, browser-based tool that uses the BEN2 AI segmentation model to detect the main subject, then blurs everything else — a portrait-mode effect for any photo.

Heads up: this uses a real AI segmentation model (BEN2, MIT licensed) running entirely in your browser via WebAssembly/WebGPU — nothing is uploaded to a server. The first use downloads and caches the model (~220MB), which is significantly larger than any other tool on this site; your browser only downloads it once. Works best in a recent version of Chrome or Edge.

  1. Upload an image.
  2. Adjust the blur strength.
  3. Click Blur background \u2014 the first use downloads the AI model (~220MB, cached afterward).
